there was a free david sedaris book reading/signing today at my local bookstore

and i haven’t read/listed to his stuff in ages other than the occasional story on TAL, but i remembered liking his humor and that me talk pretty one day was the most accurate portrayal of my middle school speech therapy experience of all time

but wow, i was really not prepared for 90% of his jokes relying on that oh-so-special brand of white gay male misogyny/classism

(i ended up leaving before the signing and buying mindy kaling’s book instead).

.

my otp swaps gum.

where did I go so completely astray in my life choices.

oh-you-better-run:

i’m going to be really unimpressed if benedict cumberbatch is the voice for the marquis de carabas, tho

like

super duper duper unimpressed

but like

this cannot be the case, right?

you would never cast a bunch of (mostly ridiculously upper-class) white dudes for a narrative that is literally all about invisible poverty

…right?

is this some sort of sick joke?

DIS IS MEH

I don’t really care if a man loves a man, or a woman loves a woman, or anything else like that. What matters to me is the fact that someone is in love, a full, lasting love. I don’t understand why society doesn’t accept this fact. Actually, occasionally I try to imagine what life would be like if the social norm was different, like, for example if gays, lesbians, bisexuals, etc. were actually accepted.

It’s always the Doctor Who urls

“I think that we try to emulate them in the fact that they didn’t plan their on-stage antics. It’s not like I plan to lick Emily in the face when she’s playing guitar, but that’s not saying it couldn’t happen.”

Mia.
